Wallis Bird

“Man, I only have great things to say about my growing up,” she beams. “Loads of noise, loads of character, lots of twists and turns, craziness, comfort, sneaking, rowing, hugging… Never any hunger, physically or mentally. My parents are relaxed about the big things in life. They’ve taken huge risks: owned a shop, a pub, a farm; they were DJs, music bookers, insurance brokers, cleaners, restaurateurs, you name it… They were never scared to work, never judged their success on their status, and were never scared to go against the grain. They allowed us to make mistakes and try shit out. They let me jump into music and not into college or a job.”

“I was put on this earth to let music channel through my body. If it resonates, I’ll fuckin’ play it! To me there is nothing inanimate in this world. Everything has a song to sing.”

“The sheer visceral energy of Wallis Bird could kick-start an entire economy” (The Irish Times)

“Wonderfully eclectic and unpredictable…easily Wallis Bird’s most accomplished album to date, 9/10” Hot Press, Ireland

“Wallis Bird is a true original. The new album ‘Home’ manages to go both forwards and backwards – introducing new ideas, while also borrowing from Irish tradition.” Clash Magazine, UK

“…an album of raw, confessional love songs“  ★★★★ Daily Mail, UK

„Wallis Bird has definitely found home. The new record is sometimes an over-arching testimony of arrival. There is no doubt about the beauty of this album. On stage she dominates an entire energy field.“ INTRO, “Albums of the week”, GER

“a heroic string-busting performance in high 30s heat from Ireland’s Wallis Bird”. The Guardian, UK

“The Irish dynamite is in Australie for the first time. Her exceptional voice moves from delicate whispers to explosive cries in a heartbeat, and inciting rousing sing-a-longs or spellbound silences.” The Daily Examiner, Australia

“Some of the most honest, tenderest, heart-on-sleeve love songs she has committed to tape, from bare-faced, chest-bursting happiness to the star, sean-nos-style title track. At its heart, though, Home is an eclectic pop record that ticks every box. It also might just be her best yet” **** Irish Times, Ireland
