Som sangskriver har Matt The Electrician en eminent evne til at fange livets store fortællinger i små, enkle sange med udgangspunkt i de daglige udfordringer vi allesammen møder, og tekstligt krydrer han en underfundighed med et stænk af humor og selvironi, som fungerer virkelig godt i mødet med publikum. Som han selv formulerer det: “I don’t generally write mining disaster songs. I tend to write about things that have happened to me and my family. Songs about the small things in life, which, to me, are really the big things.”

Stemmen er tør og vindblæst på den helt rigtige måde, og der er en meget fin symbiose mellem sang og guitar, som gør at Matts sange går rent ind.
